Artificial Intelligence and Nature Photography
/AI and Photography: an example.
As a photographer, there are times you can miss an element when taking a shot. That might be for a huge variety of reasons, but in this specific case, it was due to the lack of mobility to compensate for the movement of the subject due to where I was sat in the seat of my car. I just could not get twisted round anymore and I was also shooting with a prime lens, so I had no provision to take a wider angle which is what I would have creatively preferred. The Red Kangaroo has also jumped higher than I expected, really bringing it to the top of the frame in a visually unbalanced way.

Prior to AI tools, this photo (first image) would have been binned or left on my computer as a memento. Instead, I was able to utilise a feature in Photoshop whereby AI 'creates' the background to an extended frame that I determined (second image). I needed to give the Roo some more breathing room than the original and without inspecting the background in great detail I think Photoshop has done a pretty bloody good job of what was asked of it!

I do think AI can be a handy add on for photographers... BUT, and it is a big but... I strongly feel if AI has been used to augment an image that this should be very clearly and explicitly stated when sharing images.
What do you think? Does AI have a place in the creative world or should images be 'pure'?
Cheers,
